Sonargaon Museum, Narayanganj
Bangladesh folk art and craft foundation, Sonargaon is named as Sonargaon museum. It is established in 1975. Now, this is one of the most renowned and famous places for tourist. From Capital Dhaka, it is 30 km away. Rupganj and Sonargaon are famous for Maslin fabrics. Super beautiful and latest architectural design are very wonderful to watch there. After entering the gate there is flower garden on both sides of the main entrance and gardens are all over these place.
Inside this area, in front of the main museum building, there is a Statue of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman. Beside this, there is a statue of a famous painter in Bangladesh Joynul Abedin. Also, there is a statue of Sheikh Rasel (The son of Bangabandhu). There are so many things here for tourist with Bengal heritage. This place is decorated very beautifully by lots of things. Like the lake, flower garden, trees, library, gallery, craft village, food court, Nagar-dola, peacock boat in the lake, fishing etc.
There are lots of trees like Polas, Jarul, Shimul, Bakul, coconut etc. It also has craft village with lots of shops with beautiful names like Padma rag, Hasnahena, Sonar Tori, Dowel, Jolkona etc. tourist can take a ride in peacock boat, for this they need to buy tickets. This place is also known for shooting spot. So all along this is the best place to spend some amazing time in life with friends and families.
Sonargaon folk art and craft museum are very close to Panam Nagar. Only half kilometre walk away. Take only 10 minutes to reach. So tourist can also go these place at a time.
How to reach there:-
The best to go there is by hiring a full day car from rent a car or by bus. Rent a car fee will be around 3000 BDT (round trip). From Gulistan stadium market road some buses are moving for Sonargaon. Like Borak Paribahan, Swades Paribahan, etc. Borak paribahan fare is 40 BDT from Gulistan and Borak AC Paribahan fare is 60 BDT. Tourist also can go from Jatrabari bus stand area by Borak Paribahan. The fare is 30 taka.
There are two ways to reach in Sonargaon. One is Chaity Garment’s are road and another one is Mograpara bus station. From Chaity garment’s area road it is 1 km away and from Mograpara bus station it is 2 km. After reach there take the tom-tom car or rickshaw. In tom-tom, it is 15 BDT each and by rickshaw, it is 30 BDT fare. There are two gates to enter Sonargaon museum.
Tickets:-
For Local tourist is 30 BDT, for SAARC tourist and foreign tourist is 100 BDT. But under 4 year’s child and disabled people do not need tickets.
Lake ride with peacock boat: – For 30 minutes 50 BDT (per head)
Shooting spot fee: – 3450 BDT (Whole day)
Fishing in the lake: – 1750 BDT
Time to Visit:-
Regular Day off is Wednesday and Thursday. Also with all the Government holidays, it is fully closed.
From Open time from 9 am-5 pm and the museum open from 9.30 am-4.30 pm.
Friday break time is 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm
Transport Parking fees:-
There is a large parking space here for tourist transport.
For Bus- 200 BDT (Each)
For Car/Jeep/Microbus- 100 BDT (Each)
CNG/Motorcycle- 25 BDT (Each)
Bicycle- 5 BDT (Each)
